There’s Always Fiction

Jefferson Starship Loves You

Aside from a few things I can’t talk about, and a few things I don’t want to talk about, there’s not much to say. I have a little money in the bank, my arm is nearly healed, and I have a job lined up for February. Things are good. No drama.

Which is probably why no one has been reading this blog lately. That, and the fact that everyone is busy on Facebook. I read a book once called “Written in my Soul — Conversations With Rock’s Greatest Songwriters” which, as the title suggests, is a series of interviews with songwriters about their “craft.” In it, both Elvis Costello and Tom Petty (others, too, I’m sure, but I can’t remember who) admitted to intentionally fucking up their personal lives, and the lives of those around them, in order to have things to write about — poking the muse in order to squeeze out a little inspiration. It might be worth it if you’re pumping out million dollar songs, but not really worth it for a blog so, as I said, not much to write about.

There’s always fiction.

I think your friends would agree that for you, no news is good news.

That doesn’t surprise me about Tom Petty for some reason.
